finally Started
Sorry for not putting a new post on for a while I have been very busy. Today my friend the Mr.Uschemel "I don't remember how to spell his last name" anyways we started to restore is 1979 arctic cat trial cat 3000. This sled is in really good shape for being a 30 year old sled plus it has had at least 2 or more owners maybe even more. So today we decided we would sell the sled after we fixed it up. Some of that money will be contributed to our restoring project. What we have done so far to the sled is basically broken down the exhaust and that is in the process of being sand blasted. next I polished up the crank case and the clutches. I also cleaned up the carbs a little. I cleaned all the oil lines and oil can. While I was doing this my friend was working hard at the blaster and he had about 50% of the rust gone on the exhaust and it will have to be welded when its done. After awhile we switched off and I did about 30 minutes or so of blasting and my friend stared to clean up some of the rust on the chassis. Some of the problems we ran into today were trying to take the block cover off to sand and prime but the clutch was in the way of the bolt so I had an idea to cut it off with a saw sal , but we were trying to figure out a better and different way with out taking it off. No luck so far.Another problem was when taking the exhaust off I had a hell of a time getting the springs to come loose and pop off , when they did I was very happy. The last problem I ran into today was getting this bolt out of the engine block I didn't have a flex socket so I couldn't get the headers off of the the front of the engine. Today was a fun but long day sorry I didn't have my camera with me so I didn't take pics of the sled for a before and after but next time I will. She is coming along but at a slow pace.

Non stop Sleds
This is the Ariens 450SX or its other name the "SUPER SLED" before Ariens started making snow machines they were a trusted high quality mower company they also invented the snow thrower,or snow blower. So you think Ariens would make a reliable hard hitting sled right? Wrong! Ariens wanted to make a snowmobile that would compete with the high rollers so they created the SX,or the Super Series. In 1972 the Ariens was far behind because they had just gotten the Kill switch, wedge seat, and tachometer. The 450SX also had a black paint job which made it seem fast and aggressive, but the engine only had 35 Hp with 437cc's while today's sleds are pushing about 85-95 hp for a 400-500cc engines. When Ariens finally did get them into the stock class in the USSA they got destroyed and came no where near the other sleds. after that winter Ariens already decided to exit the snowmobile business before spring testing was done for the second year. If u guys have any suggestions on any sleds you would like me to research and blog about please comment. Thanks

Harder then I thought
- So far I have looked on Ebay,Craigslist, and some other sites that have been no help except for one guy on craigslist. This guy named Chuck has many parts for a lot of older Polaris snowmobiles such as carbs, gas tanks, and seats which may come handy.Once again if you know anyone with any kind of vintage or just and older beat up ,or rundown snowmobile please give me there information such as phone number, name and or email. Anyways I was looking at a old colt online today and the caption said Polaris SS Colt Starfire, now correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they have ever made an SS Starfire.Oh and one more thing would you guys liked it if I put videos of me and my buddy's riding on the trails with our modern sleds? I'm trying to find a good pair goggles and I cant decide which one i want so whats you're favorite clothing company out of these?

Send us your opinions and information on some old snowmobiles, and also if u have any suggestions on my blog or about what sled I should restore speak up you never know! i might just restore it.
Hello everyone I'm am looking to either restore a 1976 Polaris TX 440 Star-fire, or a Polaris 340 RXL from the same era , or any TX 1976-1980. I have heard the 440 star fire with the right fuel can beat modern day 600cc sleds. So I start my search on craigslist which I usually see great deals on motor sports, but not this time. when I went on there I saw 3 vintage polaris snowmobiles ranging from 3500 to 4500 dollars. my reaction was wow this is going to be more pricey then I thought. So if you know anyone or anyplace like a sled yard with any old vintage sleds, please comment or email me at willyhitman21@gmail.com.......P.S. I would like to start ASAP and i would like a sleds that is run down and needs a lot of repair and maybe a paint job. Thanks
